My name is Michael J Copley. Piano is how I have learned to best express myself. I started playing digital keyboards when I was 10. We would learn pop music and focussed on feeling music rhythm. Later I developed my skills in songwriting and pursued higher education in a jazz program. Most recently I have pursued my Royal Conservatory Classical certificates. I have 15 years of piano and multiple years teaching experience. 

 

Each teacher has his own style. I like to adjust to the needs of my students. Certain genres may resonate better with one person than another. Some people learn by ear and others learn by visually reading music. 

 

In lessons we may explore how to read music by learning notes and styles or learn music by ear using chords, charts, and the structure behind improvization. I look forward to meeting with, and facilitating your creative development!
